An entire mountain to yourself

You’ll never forget it. It’s so beautiful; so undescribably amazing. Snow-white mountains that rise up out of the deep-blue ocean. Start gliding up among the glaciers and make a skid stop down at the sea. The show starts 50 metres up. You see bays, islets and skerries, floating sea eagles and rocking fishing boats. The light is crystal clear and there is plenty of snow. There are no lifts in Norwegian Lyngen. You have to earn your turns and let the mountain guide choose the route of the day’s run with care. The mountain is yours.

Fast boats from comfortable Lyngen Lodge take you to new mountain shores each morning. There, you slap your skins onto the bottom of your skis and slowly ski up the mountain. It takes time to reach the peak – about 300 metres in altitude per hour – and what will soon be one of the greatest skiing experiences of your life.

Lyngen is the type of spot that is always talked about in foreign adventure magazines. The descriptions are always poetic. And they are certainly justified.
